Last night we hosted a fabulous party at the Alayne White Spa in Providence (photos coming soon!). The spa carries a line of costmetics called The Balm which have super cheeky names including Bahama Mama, Mary-Lou Manizer, & Pick-up Liners.

Alayne gave a lipstick from their Read My Lips collection that I'm wearing today. It's super smooth and moisturizing, and the color is killer. I tried to take a self portrait of it so you can see but I don't have an iPhone 4 yet, so it took about four reverse shots to get one that actually contained my entire face. Seeing as how two of our office walls are glass, I can only imagine what people walking past thought as I was snapping away...

Good morning! I'm in NYC this weekend meeting with potential PR partners and catching up on city life. I always forget how much walking is necessary when I'm in the city and both pairs of shoes I brough have small heels. I'm tempted to pop down to Opening Ceremony to pick up these yellow flats by Repetto and check out their brand new expanded space.  Have a great weekend!

As a self-professed lipgloss/chapstick/lipstick/lipbalm addict, I am always on the lookout for good looking, good tasting, good feeling lip stuff. Six months ago I found Alima Pure's lip balm and ordered it in Fig. Now, there are several characteristics on which one can rate a lip product. When you want moisturizing and a hint of color, Alima takes the cake. I just reordered, this time replenishing Fig and trying out Cranberry too.

Okay, so even though our name is Sexy Period, we don't usually talk about sex on the blog. BUT an exception must be made to bring up the results of the The Sexualizer 1000, a survey of 1000 people in Britain about their sexual preferences and experiences. The survey shows results ranging from frequency of sex to how many people have ever done it on the beach (293 in case you're curious). You can also track groups of respondants, so you can see how many members of the mile high club also drive a BMW or listen to country music. In addition to the actual content, the way it is presented deserves gold stars. Each respondant has a tiny character that runs into place to represent his or her answer to the question (like below):

After perusing answers to each of the 26 questions in the survey, I got to the end of the results and realized that one question was missing. The survey had asked intimate questions related to masturbation, porn, fetishes, and cheating on spouses....so why wasn't menstruation mentioned? Our society has become comfortable with sexy advertisments and sexy articles (Cosmo's cover this month screams "21 Naughty Sex Tips: Bold, Breathless Moves That Bring On That Crazy-in-Lust Feeling"), yet society excludes menstruation like the ugly step child. I realize that some people (men and women) are grossed out by periods. I realize that not everyone feels comfortable having sex while they or their partner is menstruating (see our interview here related to men's and women's perceptions of period sex). And I realize that it can be an uncomfortable subject to talk about. But, I guarantee you that in the 1950's talking about sex in public was uncomfortable. Things changed because people started talking about it. We here at Sexy Period aren't trying to convince everyone to have period sex. In fact, we're more about the individual women feeling beautiful, confident, and ready to rock whatever comes her way when she's on her period. But when a fascinating publication comes out that has a perfect opportunity to at least shine a flashlight on the question of how many people DO feel comfortable having period sex, it's disappointing to see it omitted.

Thank goodness it’s Friday! As you may have noticed, we at SPHQ love to think outside the box, and that is exactly what this week’s Friday Fashion Find has accomplished!
